Peel Aquatic Club have finished off one of the most successful summer swimming seasons in history under the direction of internationally renowned high-performance coach and four times world record holder Zoe Baker, supported by competitive coach Filip Fraczek-Krygier and head of development Karen Vlastuin.
Peel Aquatic kicked off the end of season successes with Lewis Burras winning gold at the British Championships in the 100m Freestyle securing his place on the Great Britain team, followed by Adam Chillingworth who broke the Hong Kong record in the 200m Breaststroke and secured his placement on the Hong Kong team for the World Aquatic Championships being held in Fukuoka in July.
A team of twelve senior Peel Aquatic (PAQ) swimmers qualified to compete in a in a mammoth 35 individual events and 3 relays at the Australian Age / Open Championships held on the Gold Coast over the April school holidays with 8 out of the 12 swimmers securing themselves a place in the finals.
Local legend Sean Alcorn came away with Silver in the boys 16 years 100m Butterfly – the 1st Australian Age medal for a Peel Aquatic Swimmer since 2012.
Sean said upon receiving his medal “I’m super happy that my training has paid off and i’m getting the results I’ve been wanting since I started my swimming journey at 10 years old – thanks to everyone for your support and believing in me”
Sean Alcorn and Oliver Brehaut also had the privilege of being selected to swim for WA in the state relays.
Closer to home Peel Aquatic had 19 swimmers qualify and participate within the Junior State Championships with Bronte Campbell claiming Bronze in the girls 12 years 100m Backstroke, Brax Sanders claiming Silver in the boys 10 years 100m butterfly and Kalel Jacinto claiming a Bronze in the boys 13 years 50m Breaststroke and silver in the 200m Breaststroke
